A Sun Scorched Land

Posted By marita on April 5, 2011

Since I have moved to the valley in Arizona I have gained a new understanding of scriptures that refer to the desert or sun scorched land.  This land can be brutal even deadly if precautions aren’t taken.  For example, we would never take off for a drive more than 5 miles from home with out bottled water.  Getting stranded without water in this area could be life threatening.  On the other hand, there is beauty here that can’t be found anywhere else.  The sunsets and sunrises here are phenomenal.  Skies are rarely cloudy and nights skies are usually incredibly clear. However, about mid-day on a summer day with the sun beating down at 109 degrees, you understand “a sun-scorched land”.

One of my favorite verses that I love as of late is Isaiah 58:11.

The Lord will guide you always; He will satify your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.  You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Oh, feed me LORD, that I might be a spring to those I be-friend and love in this place. May you be encouraged through scripture and the land you are occupying in this season.
